Available Holtkamp Five-Stop Organ

The organ is currently located on Chicago's south side.  It is similar in design to the famous Martini practice organ series. The instrument is offered for sale because the church is getting a new Wahl pipe organ in 2011.

The case and console are a dark (black) stained red oak, and the keyboards are ivory with bakelite sharps. The console has the wear and tear one would assume for a 1968 organ, though mechanically it is in excellent shape. It has held up well in our urban environment.  Wahl Organbuilders cleaned and regulated the pipework, and reconstituted parts of the Mixture in 2005. The stop action pneumatics were re-leathered at that time, and the chest leathers are in fine shape.  This is the only work that has been done on the organ throughout its history. 

The organ is not a rectangle so it does not have an easy footprint to measure, however, the dimensions give an outline of the maximum measurements. The chests supports for the bottom of the Gemshorn and Dulzian, along with the basses of the 16' Gedackt, could easily be lowered or modified to fit under a lower ceiling. There is nothing under those parts of the casework. It was originally arranged as shown to make the organ look larger. The console is movable, with over 30 feet of cable. 

Augustana Lutheran is happy to sell the instrument as soon as possible, despite the timetable listed for early 2011. It has served us very well. Please contact the church if you have any questions.
